I have loved to draw for as long as I can remember and spent hours as a child sketching moonscapes, dinosaurs, birds and animals. I have always been drawn to figurative art that captures the essence of its subject. I attended art school in the 1980s and began a career as a designer eventually leading to marketing.
Over the years I have used all kinds of media to produce works but drawing remains my favourite.
I love working in charcoal and pastels. The process of building up layers and adding texture as the drawing slowly emerges from the paper is always a thrill. I strive to make my drawings ‘realistic’ while very much remaining a ‘drawing’. I enjoy capturing the different textures of the animal from wet noses, sparkling eyes and the multi textures of fur.
